Tribute to the False God
Teams of slavers roam the Danthforz Forest, gathering unwitting villagers, traveling merchants, and adventurers alike. Some of the smaller slaver gangs act as independent merchants, plying their wares up and down the rivers. A few of the bigger slaving guilds also comb the forest, including Zrotcod Resources, the Zpasohw, and occasionally Znimish naval press gangs. The largest indigenous slave operations are those that serve Stoneclaw the Mad, who demands slaves as part of his annual tribute from the small dwarven village of z’Zmoppopp.
The slave merchants of z’Zmoppopp include the gnomish Ayrn and Wadder clans, as well as the dwarven Chainforger, Skullbasher, and Anvilporter clans. Slaves captured in excess of annual tribute amounts are sold at market downstream from the village.
Because Stoneclaw the Mad’s slaves are never seen again, slavemasters throughout the Danthforz Forest will threaten to sell their underperforming or recalcitrant slaves to slavers out of z’Zmoppopp. Slave parents scare their children with bedtime stories of how he comes in the middle of the night to kidnap bad little slave boys and girls, in order to gobble them up. Until a living soul returns from Bat Mountain, the truth of what happens to his slaves will always be up for debate.
