Tribute to the False God
The village was founded as a mining town, and the Old Mill is still located above the upper fork. Since Stoneclaw the Mad took over the old mines, the village has reinvented itself to serve his needs. Artisans craft utilitarian water jugs used to provide tribute and trade down river. The nearby NullStar Ranch provides jobs for the villagers as well as a large enough crop to feed the village, provide tribute, and trade downstream. A few slave merchants also reside in the village, when not out raiding other villages or combing the forest for adventurers, merchants, and lost souls.
The sorcerer of Mount Zkhann demands annual tribute from the village in the form of potable water, starfruit, and slaves. None of the empty containers nor slaves ever return. Some speculate that the sorcerer feeds on the flesh of the slaves, others that they are used as ingredients in some foul ritual. Occasionally a curious villager braves the journey to the old mines with the intention to find out. None of those have ever returned.
